FAQs
The best way to ensure your steering damper is in top shape for the season or an upcoming event is to send it to us and our techs will have it inspected / completely rebuild and on its way back to you the same day we receive it.
Normal service charge is $35.00 USD (not including any major replacement parts) plus shipping.
Depending on what, how, and where you ride will determine when it's best to service your damper. Usually the damper will be in no need of service as long it is performing properly. But over time seals and fluids can break down. It is not uncommon to have a very, very small bit of fluid around the area of the vane seal, but not covered in fluid. That would be the sign of a worn or failed seal. In this case you should be able to feel the absence of resistance, or air bubbles in the system "sweep" when you rotate the bars back and forth.
Improper mounting of the damper or frame mounts causes uneven stress on the seal rotating areas to a point of premature failure. This is where our technicians check for uneven or unusual wear inside the damper. Once diagnosed, the owner is notified and advised on a solution for the problem.
