After the setback at Kyalami, Miller Parc’s race in the USA implied a greater challenge for the team. We ended face to face with Kenan and Laverty and that was really motivating. Katsuaki Fujiwara had a great weekend, reassuring himself in a steady progression for this year. The Japanese rider had come a bit down the weather from Kyalami but now he has filled his heart for the challenge in Misano where he is sure to give a pleasant surprise.
Joan Lascorz (Rider): “It was a very difficult race. We worked very hard during the weekend to end up with a bike to join battle with Sofuoglu and Laverty. In the end, we nearly did it. The race was fast and we all pushed ourselves to the limit. On the first laps, it was quite difficult for me to keep pace, especially with a fully-loaded bike. As the bike got lighter, I managed to be more comfortable. It’s terrible to feel this podium is not enough, but as our two main rivals are Laverty and Sofuoglu, we should be happy, at least, half-happy. After Kyalami’s catastrophe, it is extremely important to be competitive once again. We’ll see at Misano”
Katsuaki Fujiwara (Rider): “I am very glad with my performance today. Until the very end, I struggled with Pirro and Davies for the fourth position. On the last lap, I overtook Pirro and got into fifth position, but at the end of the circuit he went past me, and I finished sixth. I am well aware of what to improve and that gives me strength for our next meeting at Misano, a circuit I really enjoy and where we had a bit of a fight for the podium last year.”
Guim Roda (Sports Director): “Kats has had a great performance. Yesterday he won his place at the first row on the grid next to the 3 top-class riders, which is worth praising. His weekend went from small to big results and he managed to get the best out of him. During the whole race, he struggled to get the fourth position. Although he wasn’t able to do so, he finished sixth, very close to the fourth place. A great outcome, bearing in mind we got to Miller Parc with a devastating felling on our shoulders. As to Joan, it is a real pity that a podium seems not enough, since we were beaten only by our two top rivals. Looking on the bright side, we managed to be competitive during the whole weekend and, after Kyalami’s setback, it has been a great outcome. It is also good enough that Kenan won Laverty and that we made the latter feel tight while riding, as he had been the winner for the last three races and seemed to be always a step ahead. Kenan broke up this success and now it is our turn to play it back on Kenan at Misano. Let’s see if we can achieve and render an even more contested scoring chart. There are still 150 points at stake. The party has just begun! See you at Misano”.
